grl2grl is a slim volume of short stories about teenage girls and the trials and tribulations that come with love and the added pressure of being a lesbian or transgendered. As with most of Julie Anne’s writings, you are pulled into each story and feel them as if they are your own. That she can capture the essence of a persons turmoil in just a few pages is a true gift.
This one is hard for me to be objective about because it hit home with a few of the stories. I was frightened, I cried and most of all I felt-in just the space of one story-that it was ok to love Ethan with everything I have no matter what he says, because there isn’t enough love in this world.
Easy to read, emotionally engaging. Many will find something to relate to here, not just lesbian and transgender readers. 151 pages, 207.
