A Really Nice Prom Mess by Brian Sloan

02 Oct

Its DC and prom time. Cameron has the hottest date at the prom and cannot believe all the high-fives he’s getting from the popular jocks. The only problem is that Cameron’s date, Virginia, has just discovered that he is gay and deeply closeted with his boyfriend Shane. If you think this is high drama-stick around for the ride. You won’t believe what Cameron goes thru this prom night but in the end, he finds his pride and dignity and a little bit about what kind of man he wants to be.

Super fast plot fits the non-stop action ride that doesn’t slow down until the last page. The characters are developed well and are easy to relate to. Who hasn’t experienced embarrassing moments in high school? The frame of Washington D.C. is interesting for the historical references but not terribly integral to the story. The storyline is one of wild adventure, lots of humor and coming out. Very popular with our teen patrons gay and straight. 2005, 266 pages.
