Metro Girl by Janet Evanovich

28 Sep

Barney hails from Baltimore and she dons mechanic’s overalls in her father’s garage during summer breaks from college. Her younger brother, Wild Bill, shares her passion for cars, and now he has disappeared from Miami, along with NASCAR star Sam Hooker’s boat, the Happy Hooker. Barney and Same hook up with an interesting cast of characters to find Bill before it is too late.

A quick paced mystery where the plot takes backseat to altercations and dialogue. The characters are not well developed but the weird side characters add greatly to the story. The setting is integral-the Miami, Keys, Cuba feel would be missing elsewhere. A wild ride of humor and romance. Do not expect a lot of tension despite the wealth of bad guys. 2004, 296 pages.
