Track of the Cat by Nevada Barr

The first Anna Pigeon mystery introduces us to Anna Pigeon, park ranger for the National Park Service.  She is immediately suspicious when a fellow ranger is killed by a lion attack.  Delving into growing clues, the politics involved in a governmental agency and a haunted past, Anna works to discover the real killer before it is too late.

Short, quick read with a fast pace.  Likeable characters, also delves into the human psyche.  Setting is integral to the story and is well described. 1993, 263 pages.
