The Tiara Club by Beverly Brandt

19 Sep

Georgia Elliot belongs to the Tiara Club, so named because the members are former pageant winners. All live in the small southern town of Ocean Sands, Mississippi, where everyone not only knows everyone else but also their entire family histories back to the Civil War and beyond. Nothing is secret, except that in her hidden attic laboratory, Georgia is an inventor.  When a Yankee comes to town to learn more about one of her hidden inventions, sparks ignite and Georgia is forced to take a hard look at her life and those that try to control it.

Surprisingly developed plot line with memorable characters and a strong sense of place. 2005, 356 pages.
