Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin

19 Sep

Rachel is a young attorney living and working in Manhattan.  Rachel has always been the consummate good girl until her 30th birthday, when her best friend, Darcy, throws her a party.  That night, after too many drinks, Rachel ends up in bed with Darcy’s fiance.  Ooops! Rachel mortification slowly becomes a realization that she has genuine feelings for the one guy she should be running from.

The story puts emphasis on people and their reaction to events.  Giffen balances well between interior and exterior events. A quick pace and a lot of internal dialogue.  Well-drawn characters that are sympathetic and enjoyable.  2004, 322 pages.
